Buffalo Bills Address Concerns Over New Stadium Sightlines

The Buffalo Bills are taking steps to address criticism surrounding their new stadium. Particular issues with partially obstructed sightlines have been noted. The team stated on Monday that they will handle these concerns individually.

These criticisms emerged after fans experienced the $2.1 billion Highmark Stadium during the Bills’ annual Blue and Red practice on Saturday night. While a majority of the feedback was positive, team president Pete Guelli mentioned that the complaints came from less than 1% of personal seat licensing holders.

Sightline Obstruction Issues

One major concern involves seats with obstructed views. Several photos have circulated on social media highlighting these issues. The team clarified that at least one photo provided by The Associated Press showed seats not intended for football games. These seats are in the last row of Section 417 in the northwest corner of the stadium. The view of the far end zone is mostly blocked by the press box outcropping.

These seats may be used for other events like concerts where the view isn’t an issue. Other images displayed seats where views are partially blocked by railings and staircases.

When selling the seats, prospective ticket buyers were offered a virtual tour of the stadium, showing what their field view would look like.

Plans for Improvement

The team plans to review each complaint and will spend the next six weeks refining details before the Bills’ regular-season home opener against Detroit on September 17.

Upcoming events include two home preseason games, beginning with a match against Carolina on Saturday.

Design Inspiration and Seating Capacity

The design of Highmark Stadium took inspiration from the Premier League’s Tottenham Hotspur stadium, which also hosts NFL games in London. Owner Terry Pegula was impressed with the Hotspur stadium’s minimal bad seating. The Bills aim to replicate this, offering a venue with a seating capacity of 60,108.
