Candy Thompson, an octogenarian who once left her Christian faith for feminism, shares her story of returning to Christianity. She reveals how feminism affected her views on family and marriage.

Thompson, who had three abortions during her first marriage, reflects on her past and says feminism ‘failed’ her. ‘The feminists pitted women against men and having children,’ she told Fox News Digital. ‘It belittled our roles in the home, as mothers, and as wives.’ She adds, ‘When it pitted us against God, that’s what really led to what happened to me.’

Having attended the University of North Carolina during the 1960s, Thompson learned about feminism while in college. At the time, she felt that her Christian values didn’t address her questions. The culture of equality offered by feminism appealed to her.

Thompson recalls a traumatic experience between her junior and senior year. She suffered a miscarriage while living in the college dorm. Instead of seeking support from her parents or returning to her faith, she continued with her life choices. She now sees this as the start of a downward spiral.

After marrying the first man she dated, Thompson experienced three abortions and a miscarriage. Years later, she acknowledges those lost pregnancies with acknowledgment-of-life certificates. ‘There were lots of effects like anger. I did not understand as a young woman what my actual created purpose was,’ Thompson says. Only upon returning to Christianity did she find clarity.

Thompson expresses concern for young people today. ‘We have young people from the colleges into our homes and they’re hungry. They want to be married, but they don’t trust men,’ she says. She attributes this mistrust to a lack of guidance for those seeking lifelong relationships. ‘They’re wanting this in their spirits, but they don’t know how to get it because nobody’s telling them. These women are lost,’ she adds.
