Celebrity Blogger Perez Hilton Involved in Mental Health Crisis Incident

Law enforcement responded to Perez Hilton’s Miami home following an incident where the celebrity blogger appeared to be self-harming during a TikTok livestream. The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office received multiple calls about Hilton’s actions on social media.

A spokesperson announced that deputies located Hilton’s residence, confirming he was inside alone. In situations involving mental health crises, deputies focus on de-escalation by increasing time, distance, and communication opportunities. This approach aims to prevent suicide-by-cop scenarios and reduce injury risks to everyone involved.

Currently, deputies have disengaged tactically while continuing to provide support to Hilton’s family. According to a source, Hilton was placed under a psychiatric hold under Florida’s Baker Act and had superficial cuts on his body.

The Baker Act allows for involuntary mental health evaluations when specific criteria are met, usually lasting up to 72 hours. Hilton’s representative did not respond to requests for comment. Earlier this year, he was hospitalized due to severe sepsis and related infections.

Hilton, whose real name is Mario Armando Lavandeira Jr., recently relocated to Miami with his mother and children. He rose to prominence in the mid-2000s after creating a celebrity gossip website, becoming an influential entertainment figure known for his unfiltered style.

Early 2023 saw Hilton hospitalized for 21 days following sepsis complications from the flu. During this time, he developed an ulcer and stomach perforation requiring emergency surgery. In a candid video, Hilton shared that the experience brought him closer to God, calling it a miraculous event that changed his life.

He apologized for past mistakes in a heartfelt video, expressing deep regret for his actions. Hilton stated he was turning to the Bible for guidance and had reached out to apologize to those he hurt.

“God presented himself to me and then did something miraculous,” Hilton said. “I made many mistakes; the internet remembers. I feel deep shame and regret.”

Hilton has embraced his spiritual journey, acknowledging how it shapes his current actions and future goals.
