Nazareth 17, Providence 7

Providence’s senior, Broden Mackert, rushed for 119 yards on 18 attempts. Despite his 23-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter, Providence struggled with four turnovers. This was their first game since coach Tyler Plantz’s dismissal, resulting in a 17-7 loss to Nazareth in LaGrange Park.

Lincoln-Way East 38, Sandburg 17

Jayden Cawthon from Lincoln-Way East, a senior receiver and kick return specialist, faced an unexpected challenge. On his first kickoff, he ran in the wrong direction. Redeeming himself on the next opportunity, he made a 54-yard kickoff return. This setup led to his touchdown catch, contributing to Lincoln-Way East’s 38-17 victory over Sandburg in Orland Park.

Batavia 55, St. Charles North 35

Batavia’s quarterback, Michael Vander Luitgaren, opened the game with a 58-yard touchdown pass to Brennon Zeng. They recovered their onside kick, quickly taking a 36-0 lead. St. Charles North fought back with quarterback Landon Conroy bringing them within 14 points, but Batavia secured the win at 55-35.

West Aurora 60, Elgin 0

West Aurora’s Tyler Fecht, now the starting quarterback, completed 7 of 8 passes for 105 yards and three touchdowns. His performance led the Blackhawks to a dominant 60-0 win over Elgin in their conference matchup.

Naperville North 41, Metea Valley 3

John Lyons from Naperville North, formerly focused on baseball, showcased his football talent with seven tackles and a sack. His efforts contributed to Naperville North’s 41-3 win over Metea Valley in the DuPage Valley Conference.

Wauconda 48, Grayslake North 14

Colton Zak, a sophomore from Wauconda, impressed in his fifth varsity game. His defensive play and first varsity touchdown helped Wauconda secure a 48-14 victory against previously undefeated Grayslake North.

Andrean 28, Hobart 10

Andrean’s sophomore, Stetson Sullivan, shined with precise route running. Standing 5-foot-7 and weighing 155 pounds, he demonstrated skill with six catches for 79 yards and three touchdowns, aiding in a 28-10 win over Hobart in the Northwest Crossroads Conference.
