Cleveland Guardians fans encountered unexpected issues on Friday night due to rain. Game 4 of the American League Division Series faced a weather-related postponement. The decision came over an hour after the scheduled first pitch, impacting fans who traveled and spent money on parking, food, and merchandise.
The situation took a curious turn with the Guardians’ official account posting “Rain or shine” an hour before the intended start. The real challenge arose when the Guardians announced changes in ticket arrangements.
Ticket Confusion:
Fans holding tickets for Game 4 can now use them for Game 5 on Sunday. This change replaces the original Saturday schedule. Those with Game 5 tickets need no action and can attend Saturday’s game. The adjustment created confusion and frustration among fans.
“This is an insane way to handle tickets. Tomorrow should be Game 4, and Sunday should be Game 5. Tickets should be used in that order. This is gonna cause hella problems,” commented an X user.
Many fans shared their disappointment. Some had hoped to witness a potential pennant win with their Game 5 tickets. The shift to Game 4 left them dissatisfied. Fans believe tickets should remain tied to their originally assigned game numbers in the series.
“Imagine you thought you had tickets to a possible pennant-clinching win at home tomorrow night and they just casually change your tickets to Game 4. Totally ridiculous. Game is not of equal value,” stated another fan.
For others, the situation offered a potential benefit. If the Guardians secure a win on Saturday, those with Friday’s tickets could gain a fortuitous advantage.
With the weather expected to clear, the first pitch is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. ET on Saturday.
