Coping with Extreme Heat in Cairo

In Cairo, the summer heat has been relentless this year. My father, who still resides there, shared this with me. When I asked about the temperature, he mentioned it was 39 degrees Celsius. Curious about the Fahrenheit equivalent, I checked and found it’s 102 degrees. Moreover, next week’s forecast predicts a peak of 106 degrees Fahrenheit.

During the ’90s, while attending elementary school, I spent my summers visiting my father. At that time, air conditioning units weren’t as widespread as they are today. It was undeniably hot, yet I managed to endure the heat.

Given the current extreme temperatures, I question how Egyptians are managing these conditions today.
