UFC CEO Dana White announced plans to meet with President Donald Trump to discuss the recent offer of becoming the White House press secretary. Speaking after a Zuffa Boxing event in London, White stated he would be heading to Washington after the press conference.
White humorously remarked, “I got a lot of jobs already,” and mentioned the upcoming meeting scheduled for Monday.
President Trump had posted on Truth Social on Saturday, urging White to accept the position. Trump wrote, “We need these people to defend us against the Lunatic Left. Dana will be a Press Secretary like none other. Dana, please take the job!”
The president also suggested bringing several UFC fighters as assistants, including Islam Makhachev, Khabib Nurmagomedov, Justin Gaethje, Daniel Cormier, and Amanda Nunes.
Adding to the speculation, White posted an image on Instagram from the White House briefing room podium, captioning it, “On to the next chapter.” White House communications director Steven Cheung supported the idea, reposting Trump’s message with enthusiasm.
These developments arrive amid shifts in Trump’s communication team. Karoline Leavitt, the previous press secretary, resigned in August. Her successor, Katie Zacharia, served briefly in October. Additionally, Stephen Miller has been announced as the new White House chief of staff, replacing Susie Wiles.
The relationship between White and Trump dates back to 2001, when Trump’s Taj Mahal casino hosted a UFC event. White later supported Trump’s presidential campaigns, speaking at the Republican National Conventions in 2016 and 2020.
Their collaboration extended to hosting the UFC’s Freedom 250 event on the White House lawn in June, which coincided with both the country’s 250th anniversary celebrations and Trump’s 80th birthday.
Trump has acknowledged White’s influence in political circles, noting that White introduced him to younger online personalities, helping to reach broader audiences. This may prove crucial as Trump faces potential investigations from Democratic lawmakers focusing on his administration’s policies.
