Divine Intervention and Knicks’ Historic Comeback in NBA Finals Game 4

2 weeks ago 0

The New York Knicks’ remarkable NBA Finals Game 4 triumph over the San Antonio Spurs has stirred discussions on whom or what to credit for the win. Karl-Anthony Towns attributes the victory to divine intervention, referring to a ‘right hand from God’ that assisted OG Anunoby’s decisive tip-in with 1.2 seconds left in the game.

Towns remarked during the postgame press conference, ‘Every time I talk to him, I say, I already know what OG Anunoby’s gonna do in the fourth quarter. He did exactly what I thought he would do. Gave us a chance to win.’

Anunoby’s game-winning tip-in was extraordinary, not only for its timing but also for the improbable nature of the Knicks’ overall comeback. Trailing at one point by 29 points, the Knicks set a record for overcoming the largest deficit by any team to win in an NBA Finals match. Their 27-point halftime deficit also marked the most significant comeback in championship round history.

OG Anunoby and Jalen Brunson’s performances were pivotal. ESPN noted that they became the first Knicks teammates to each tally 30 points in an NBA Finals game. Brunson led with 36 points, while Anunoby contributed 33. This victory marked the first Knicks win in an NBA Finals home game in 9,853 days, as highlighted by Keerthika Uthayakumar.

Their comeback felt almost supernatural as the Knicks shifted from nearly splitting the series to securing a strong 3-1 lead ahead of Game 5. Historically plagued by misfortune, this thrilling victory might signal a shift in the Knicks’ fortunes.
