Enes Kanter Freedom, a former NBA player, was removed from the arena by security during Sunday’s game between the Chicago Sky and Indiana Fever. The altercation occurred following an argument with Sky’s Natasha Cloud. The incident took place alongside his advocacy against transgender athletes participating in women’s sports.
Michael Alter, majority owner of the Sky, announced that Freedom is now prohibited from attending future Sky games due to his conduct during the match. During a press conference, Alter stated that Freedom’s behavior breached the team’s standards for guests.
“As far as a lifetime ban, if someday he’s able to demonstrate he’s capable of being at a game and conducting himself in compliance with our rules and not be a threat to people, might we reconsider?” Alter said. “I suppose it’s possible.”
Freedom attended the game wearing a shirt with the wording, “WOMAN noun. adult human female,” and engaged Cloud during a third-quarter timeout. This led to a security intervention and his subsequent removal.
Alter has not confirmed whether there are discussions with the league about Freedom’s status regarding other WNBA teams. The Sky owner emphasized the decision relates specifically to safety and adherence to venue policies.
