Federal agents conducted a search at the Washington, D.C. residence of Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., on Monday morning. This action involved agents from Homeland Security Investigations executing a judicially approved search warrant. The Department of Justice confirmed that this is part of an ongoing federal investigation.
No specifics about the investigation’s purpose were disclosed by the authorities. Rep. Omar took to social media to express her discontent, calling the search an effort to target political adversaries and misuse federal law enforcement. ‘Make no mistake: this is an attempt to target political enemies and weaponize federal law enforcement,’ she stated. ‘I will not be silenced.’
Several agents from HSI were observed in the vicinity of Omar’s home that morning. Jackie Rogers, Omar’s spokesperson, described the search as a ‘raid’ and labeled it as an ‘outrageous abuse of power’ and an ‘unprecedented escalation in the weaponization of federal law enforcement against political enemies.’
Sharon Jackson, aged 79, who resides across the street from Omar, noted that federal agents woke her up around 4:30 a.m. with loud noises and described the presence of a large truck outside.
This development occurs just before the upcoming midterm elections, where Rep. Omar is running for reelection. Previously, Vice President Vance accused Omar of committing immigration fraud. She denies these allegations.
