Despite the optimism surrounding Mendoza’s signing, his journey as the starting quarterback is not guaranteed. Veteran Kirk Cousins, who signed a one-year contract, currently holds that position. Cousins serves as a transitional figure while Mendoza acclimates to the NFL’s demands.

Las Vegas Raiders’ offensive coordinator, Andrew Janocko, is working with both Mendoza and Cousins at the Intermountain Health Performance Center. Sources within the team confirm that Mendoza must prove his readiness before taking over the starting role.

Mendoza will participate in training camp, receiving some starting repetitions. However, evaluation of Cousins’s performance will determine any changes in the lineup. Should Cousins continue to perform well, he will maintain his starting position.
