FIFA Suspends Ban, Folarin Balogun Cleared for World Cup Match

FIFA made an unexpected decision on Sunday by suspending a one-match ban against Folarin Balogun, a forward for the U.S. men’s national soccer team. This clearance allows Balogun to participate in Monday’s World Cup knockout match against Belgium. The reversal of the ban, initially deemed mandatory after Balogun’s straight red card in a match against Bosnia and Herzegovina, garnered immediate praise from President Donald Trump.

FIFA’s initial ruling was based on tournament regulations that impose an automatic one-match suspension following a direct dismissal.
