Florida Democratic Senate candidate Angie Nixon expressed strong criticism towards her Republican opponent, U.S. Senator Ashley Moody. Nixon accused Moody of dishonest actions related to taxpayer funds.
Nixon claimed Moody redirected $10 million intended for sick children under the Medicaid program into political funds for Governor Ron DeSantis’ campaigns. According to Nixon, this action hindered efforts to stop citizen-led ballot initiatives.
The fact remains that Ashley Moody is a lying, cheating, thieving, scamming person who basically took $10 million from sick kids for the Medicaid program. And she rerouted that into two political slush funds for Ron DeSantis to defeat two citizen-led ballot initiatives,
Nixon stated during an interview with CNN host Kasie Hunt.
Nixon also accused Moody of voting against healthcare access for over 440,000 Florida residents. She further criticized the disinformation spreading regarding her own policies and intentions. They are spreading, like, a lot of disinformation and lies on commercials about me, of saying things like, I want to abolish prisons and I want to defund the police,
Nixon commented.
When Hunt asked if Nixon desired her opponent to be incarcerated, Nixon confirmed her intent. Basically, yes. Because of what she did, yes. I absolutely would want that to happen. Yes.
Nixon affirmed.
Nixon suggested an investigation into Moody’s actions, highlighting potential corruption linked to political appointments by Governor DeSantis. We don’t know how many children are potentially going to die because that $10 million did not go to where it was supposed to go to,
Nixon emphasized.
Throughout the interview, Nixon described Moody as supportive of former President Donald Trump’s policies. Moody is a rubber stamp for President Donald Trump,
she stated.
Nixon assured efforts to challenge Moody’s actions if elected. We need to make sure that we are putting people in Washington, D.C., who actually have the back of hardworking everyday Floridians. I will be calling for a full-on investigation as it relates to what Ashley Moody and them have done. Yes, absolutely,
Nixon concluded.
A spokesperson for the Republican National Committee, Emma Hall, questioned Nixon’s intent and plans. Hall criticized Nixon’s statements, asking, Questions should be asked about why socialist extremist Angie Nixon wants to jail her political opponents, but is totally fine with freeing dangerous criminals. Plus, how does she plan to do this if she wants to abolish all prisons?
Despite Nixon’s affiliation with the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), she denied being a socialist in a statement to NBC News. Ashley Moody knows that I’m not a socialist,
Nixon clarified.
Nixon joined the DSA for its stance on public housing, healthcare, and veteran support. Moody, meanwhile, denied any wrongdoing related to the Hope Florida settlement controversy.
Both Moody and Nixon are gearing up for the Florida Senate race amid these accusations and political differences.
