A teacher from a Florida middle school was arrested after admitting to inappropriate communication with a former teenage student since 2023. Christian Schneider, 31, who taught at Memorial Middle School, now faces three felony charges following an investigation by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

Detectives began the investigation on July 28. They discovered Schneider had been sending inappropriate messages to a former student from Franklin Middle School, according to the sheriff’s office.

Schneider was taken into custody on August 14, 2026. Charges include two counts of solicitation or possession of child sexual abuse material, classified as second-degree felonies. He also faces a charge of unlawful use of a two-way communication device, a third-degree felony, according to records from the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

Details about the student’s age, how the alleged communications were discovered, or the nature of the messages have not been shared by authorities.

The sheriff’s office reported that the investigation remains ongoing. The booking records indicated that July 3 was the offense date for each charge. Schneider was arrested on a Friday and booked, with his release on a $7,500 surety bond occurring at 2:38 a.m. the following day.

Teachers hold a position of trust that comes with enormous responsibility, said Sheriff Chad Chronister. When that trust is exploited, it’s not just a crime, it’s a violation of everything our schools are supposed to stand for. Detectives will continue investigating these cases aggressively, and anyone who abuses their position with a child will be held accountable.

The sheriff’s office identified Schneider as a teacher at Memorial Middle School, located in Tampa, Florida, and noted that the teenager was his former student from Franklin Middle School. However, no additional details were provided about Schneider’s connection to Franklin Middle School or the time when he taught the student.

The investigation remains active, and further information will be released as it becomes available. Fox News Digital has reached out to the Hillsborough County school district for details on Schneider’s employment status and for comment on the arrest.
