George Kittle Returns for 49ers Season Opener After Injury

1 hour ago 0

Veteran tight end George Kittle is set to return to the field without any injury designation as the San Francisco 49ers face the Los Angeles Rams in their Week 1 matchup in Melbourne, Australia. This follows Kittle’s recovery from a torn Achilles suffered during the 49ers’ wild card victory over the Philadelphia Eagles on January 11.

Although Kittle was limited in practice throughout the week, he no longer appears on the injury report. Both he and teammate Nick Bosa, who has been dealing with a knee issue, will join the team for the season opener on Thursday night.

“Body feels really good,” Kittle shared earlier this week, according to 49ersWebZone. “It’s bounced back really good. I’d say I’ve really taken a step back … towards playing. But besides that, don’t know what the workload is.”

Kittle is entering his 10th season with the 49ers. Last year, he played in 11 regular-season games, recording 57 catches for 628 yards and seven touchdowns.

The game against the Rams is scheduled to start at 8:35 p.m. ET.
