Georgia’s Youngest Mayor Removed from Office Amid Allegations

Jayden Williams, at 23 years old, was removed from his position as the mayor of Stockbridge, Georgia, after only 10 months in office. His removal followed accusations of misusing city funds and exchanging suggestive messages with an 18-year-old high school student.

The Stockbridge City Council, located just south of Atlanta, officially impeached Williams after his tenure began in January. The city made a public statement confirming the removal: “The City of Stockbridge confirms that the City Council has taken formal action concerning the Office of Mayor. The Mayor has been removed from office.”

Williams faced allegations of spending over $4,000 of city funds on personal purchases, such as meals, clothes, haircuts, and a movie. In particular, he spent $2,600 on gasoline and used a city vehicle for personal activities, according to reports.

The situation came to light when city employees noticed suspicious activities involving public funds. They quickly informed management and legal counsel. Williams testified that he did not deliberately misuse city funds and repaid the money. He mentioned confusion between his personal card and the city-issued card as the reason for these transactions, leading to him replacing the cards later.

Additionally, Williams was accused of communicating suggestively with an 18-year-old male student. Although legal authorities found no criminal violations, they initiated an administrative review due to potential policy and ethical issues.

In Williams’ statement, he noted that the communication took place before his inauguration in January 2026, and the individual never participated in a city mentorship program. He clarified, “The individual was 18 years old at the time of our communication, meaning we were both adults. I met this individual on November 30, 2025.”

Despite the controversy, Williams had made history by becoming Georgia’s youngest mayor, campaigning while he was a student at Clark Atlanta University. Previously, he had been stripped of certain official privileges, but no criminal charges were filed.
