Growing Alliance of Radical Islamists and Far-Left Socialists Raises Concerns

A former Reagan administration national security official is raising concerns about what he sees as a developing alliance between radical Islamists and far-left socialists, driven by a common anti-American agenda.

Frank Gaffney, in a conversation with Fox News Digital, discussed the expanding influence of the Democratic Socialists of America and highlighted potential threats to U.S. national security. Gaffney stated that Sharia supremacists may be promoting communism with a religious aspect, suggesting both groups are united in totalitarianism to achieve a mutual goal of undermining the United States.

The “red-green alliance” indicates cooperation between far-left movements and Islamist groups.

Gaffney previously served as assistant secretary of defense for international security policy under President Ronald Reagan. He founded the Center for Security Policy in Washington, D.C., in 1988 and is currently the president of the Institute for the American Future.

This alliance was debated during a recent Senate Judiciary subcommittee hearing on confronting the Muslim Brotherhood in America. U.S. Senator Ted Cruz, R-Texas, questioned Kyle Shideler, an analyst for homeland security and counterterrorism, about whether the Muslim Brotherhood partners with groups like the Democratic Socialists of America. Shideler agreed with Cruz’s depiction of the alliance and noted the shared revolutionary objective to counter Americanism.

A Fox News Digital investigation found around 425 organizations, including communist groups, Muslim advocacy organizations, and anti-Israel activist coalitions, part of a coordinated transnational protest network generating about $1 billion in revenue annually.
