Hillary Clinton Emphasizes Post-Midterm Strategy for Democrats

28 minutes ago 0

Hillary Clinton, former Secretary of State, emphasized on the “Pivot” podcast the significance of Democrats addressing key voter issues after potential midterm victories. Speaking with hosts Kara Swisher and Scott Galloway during a live Election Night event, Clinton projected a positive outcome for Democrats. “I think we’re going to wake up to a Democratic House and a Democratic Senate,” she predicted.

Scott Galloway concurred with Clinton’s forecast but cautioned that success could be fleeting if Democrats ignore voter priorities. He described the victory as more of a short-term gain rather than a long-term assurance, suggesting, “I would argue it’s a lease, not a mortgage; dating, not a relationship.” He stressed the need for Democrats to transform a momentary win into sustained success leading up to 2028.

Clinton acknowledged this necessity, stating the importance of Democrats capitalizing on their midterm gains and effectively executing their agenda for continued support. “If the Democrats don’t go in with an agenda and have the discipline to enact that agenda, then they’re going to lose the kind of support that they’re going to gain in this election,” she warned.

Galloway likened the midterm results to a courtship, urging Democrats to navigate it wisely to retain voter backing for future elections.

Clinton highlighted three key areas for Democrats to focus on: affordability, anti-corruption, and examining the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). She suggested addressing healthcare costs, fast-tracking housing development, and shifting fossil fuel cost burdens from consumers to oil and gas companies as part of an affordability package.

She also emphasized the urgency of an anti-corruption package, noting, “People have been benefiting at the expense of, you know, everyday Americans, consumers.” Lastly, Clinton called for investigating DOGE’s impact, specifically concerning data security issues related to Elon Musk.
