Historic Cross-Agency Operation in Chicago Results in 300 Arrests

FBI Director Kash Patel shared details of a significant operation that led to the arrest of over 300 individuals in the Chicago area over a 60-day period. Operation New Dawn exemplified a substantial government effort spearheaded under President Trump’s leadership to combat violent crimes and crimes against children in major American cities.

Patel explained, “This sweeping operation in Chicago brought together 11 different federal agencies to execute 305 arrests and recover 24 children, many reported as kidnapped or missing. The subjects faced charges like robbery, kidnapping, drug trafficking, and child exploitation.”

Future initiatives like Summer Heat 2.0 promise continued efforts by the FBI, their partners, and the Justice Department, led by AG Todd Blanche, to tackle criminal networks in the U.S.

The operation involved agencies like the FBI, DEA, ATF, and Homeland Security Investigations. According to the United States Attorney’s Office of the Northern District of Illinois, FBI Director Kash Patel emphasized the agency’s role in facilitating foreign transfers of custody for two significant targets from Iraq and Colombia.

In addition to robbers, kidnappers, and drug traffickers, other suspects involved gun trafficking, gun offenses, and immigration violations. U.S. Attorney Andrew S. Boutros highlighted the operation’s collaboration, noting it signifies a new era of law enforcement in America.

“It is my view that to combat violence, federal law enforcement must move at the speed of violence. The remarkable success of Operation New Dawn resoundingly proves that point.”

The unity of Chicago’s federal anti-violence apparatus demonstrated their resolve to handle violence under the United States flag. ATF Special Agent in Charge in Chicago Christopher Amon agreed that law enforcement operates as a team, highlighting the operation’s impact on Chicago’s safety.

“Together, we made a meaningful impact by removing shooters and other violent offenders from our streets, making Chicago safer for all.”

The cooperation yielded arrests like Felipe Dejesus Gomez Ramirez, a convicted murderer and illegal alien. Authorities apprehended David Collins and Tyrone Thomas, members of Chicago’s Traveling Vice Lords gang, on federal drug trafficking charges.

The operation, beginning on May 1, resulted in 179 defendants charged in federal court and 140 new criminal cases. Twenty-four kidnapped children were found and safely returned home.
