On Thursday, four Republicans in the House of Representatives voted alongside Democrats to pass a resolution aimed at restricting U.S. military actions in Iran. This move goes against the stance of former President Donald Trump and the majority of the Republican Party.
Representatives Brian Fitzpatrick from Pennsylvania, Warren Davidson from Ohio, Tom Barrett from Michigan, and Thomas Massie from Kentucky supported the resolution. They joined Democrats in the 214-208 vote, showcasing their opposition to unauthorized military actions. Earlier in June, these same Republicans had also voted against President Trump’s Iran war powers.
This vote represents a significant bipartisan challenge to the Trump administration amid growing concerns in Congress about the escalating situation with Iran. Although the resolution is primarily symbolic, it highlights weakening Republican unity. The Senate is expected to consider a similar measure later on Thursday.
