Interpol Seeks Ukrainian Woman in Monaco Bombing Case

Interpol has identified a 39-year-old Ukrainian woman, Anastasiia Berezovska, as the main suspect in a bombing incident in Monaco. The attack appeared to target a Ukrainian tycoon with Russian connections. Berezovska is currently at large, and Interpol has issued a Red Notice for her arrest on charges including attempted murder and placing an explosive device.

The explosion occurred on Monday at an apartment building entrance, injuring three people. Monaco authorities have not revealed their identities but described them as a family. Reports indicate that Ukrainian construction tycoon Vadym Yermolaiev might be among the wounded. He renounced his Ukrainian citizenship nearly a decade ago and faced Ukrainian sanctions in 2023 for his Russian ties. A woman and a child were also injured, with one person in a critical condition. Additionally, two other individuals were slightly hurt during the attack.

Investigators are exploring whether Berezovska had help in the operation. Monaco’s deputy prosecutor, Morgan Raymond, stated that the complexity of the device and the method used suggest the involvement of others. The bomb was detonated remotely, and its remnants are being examined in France.

The incident has shocked Monaco, known for its affluent lifestyle and events such as the Formula 1 Grand Prix. Prince Albert II deemed the incident an “odious act,” assuring that all public services are working to maintain security.

Authorities have not disclosed the motive for the bombing. Interpol’s notice describes Berezovska as having a snake tattoo on her right arm and speaking German. Initially, she was identified in surveillance footage as a male, but further investigation pointed to her being a woman disguised as a man.

Two men were detained during the investigation but later released. Police have linked Berezovska to a vehicle with German plates used in Monaco. Her escape route spanned multiple European countries before reaching Germany, known for its cooperative judicial framework.

In Germany, a rented apartment near Frankfurt was searched, and a vehicle connected to Berezovska was secured. The suspect remains on the run, and German authorities have not released additional details.

The attack aligns with Ukraine’s known actions against Russian figures amid ongoing conflict. In December 2024, Ukraine claimed responsibility for killing a high-ranking Russian military official. Western intelligence suggests Russia has intensified targeted attacks since its invasion of Ukraine.
