Houston Carjacking Leads to Fatal Shooting, Repeat Offender Charged

A tragic incident occurred in Houston, Texas, resulting in the death of a father during a carjacking. The incident took place on a Saturday afternoon, with a repeat offender currently on probation facing charges for the murder.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office identified the victim as 56-year-old Louis Erebia, who attempted to recover his stolen car. Erebia confronted the alleged thief, London Hogan Sr. Hogan Sr. reportedly shot Erebia, who later died after being transported to a hospital. Hogan Sr. also allegedly shot another individual, who is expected to survive.

According to FOX26, Erebia’s son was refueling their Chevy Silverado when Hogan allegedly stole the vehicle at gunpoint. Erebia and a friend tracked the stolen truck using GPS, finding it in the area it was driven.

The incident escalated when Erebia’s vehicle collided with the stolen truck, disabling it. Afterward, Erebia pursued a male and female suspect who exited the truck. Hogan then allegedly fired several shots.

Hogan faces charges including murder, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon. His criminal history includes:

  • Nov. 12, 2023: Assault of a family/household member impeding breath/circulation, deferred adjudication with five years of community supervision
  • Sept. 3, 2020: Felon in possession of a weapon, dismissed
  • Sept. 3, 2020: Unauthorized use of a vehicle, dismissed
  • Sept. 3, 2020: Possession of a controlled substance, dismissed
  • Aug. 24, 2016: Possession of a controlled substance, guilty
  • Oct. 15, 2015: Possession of a controlled substance, guilty
  • Dec. 16, 2009: Burglary, guilty

During a hearing, a judge acknowledged Hogan’s current status on deferred adjudication for assault impeding breath. His charges were read, emphasizing the severity of the murder charge as an SB9 offense.

Amber Burrough, a relative of Erebia, expressed on Facebook that Erebia’s life was taken too soon. She praised his selfless nature, stating, ‘Louis died doing exactly what he did every day of his life—protecting others. He was a hero down to his very last breath.’
