As discussions about the relevance and value of higher education continue, many students are still determined to pursue college education. A recent report from Common App, a widely-used online application portal, reveals that enthusiasm for higher education remains strong.
Common App, which allows applications to over 1,150 institutions, recorded submissions from 1.5 million students. These students sent more than 10.7 million applications for the 2025-2026 academic year. This marks a 6 percent growth compared to the prior cycle.
This trend is driven chiefly by first-generation college students and those from low-income backgrounds. Their participation reflects a significant demographic shift in college admissions, emphasizing the ongoing demand for access to higher education.
