The Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) is set to pause activities to allow players to participate in the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup. As the break approached, the Indiana Fever faced off against the Connecticut Sun.
Caitlin Clark and the Fever entered the game with momentum from a dominant 113-90 victory over the Chicago Sky. Meanwhile, the Sun were aiming to secure their 11th win of the season. Despite a challenging season for Connecticut, they started strong, leading 28-19 at the end of the first quarter.

The early dominance by the Sun spurred the home team, Indiana Fever, into action. The Fever responded by outscoring Connecticut 39-15 in the second quarter, creating a 58-43 lead by halftime.
Though the third quarter wasn’t as imbalanced, it showcased Caitlin Clark’s remarkable playmaking. Clark delivered a standout assist to Kelsey Mitchell, contributing to her 12 assists for the game. Mitchell also achieved 34 points, moving her to the top of the league for total points.
Clark matched Mitchell with 34 points, pushing their WNBA record to the most 30-plus-point games for teammates in a season, marking their fourth occurrence this year. The Fever triumphed 111-91, setting a franchise record for 100-plus-point games in a season, hitting the 19-game mark.
Indiana Fever now heads into the FIBA World Cup break. With only four regular season games remaining, their next match is on September 18 against the Toronto Tempo.
