James Talarico’s Chances of Beating Ken Paxton

A recent poll conducted by SoCal Strategies shows Talarico ahead of Paxton with 50% support compared to Paxton’s 45%. This reflects a positive shift from June when Paxton was leading. Talarico has significantly increased his lead among Hispanic voters, who have shifted from a 10-point gap in June to a 38-point gap in the latest poll. His lead among independent voters has also grown from 10 to 45 points.

Twelve percent of Republicans indicated they plan to vote for Talarico. The survey report highlights that Republican voters are less decided compared to Democrats. Six percent of Trump voters remain undecided, whereas only one percent of those who supported Vice President Kamala Harris are yet to make up their minds. The report suggests Paxton needs to win almost all undecided voters and reduce the 12% of Republicans supporting Talarico.

Additionally, market predictor websites indicate a shift in odds. Polymarket now gives Talarico a 53% chance of winning, a change from July when Paxton had a 56% chance. Kalshi shows a similar trend with Talarico holding 52% odds of victory.

Beto O’Rourke’s 2018 Campaign Against Ted Cruz

During the 2018 campaign, Senator Ted Cruz led Beto O’Rourke by about 3 percentage points according to Real Clear Politics. Cruz eventually won by a margin of 2 points. Cruz commended O’Rourke for running a strong campaign and acknowledged the race was close.

Now, Cruz is warning Republicans of the potential Democratic win. On a podcast, Cruz mentioned that Democrats could capture Texas. In July, he stated that Talarico has a ‘real chance’ in the race. Cruz believes the race will be tight, estimating a 1- or 2-point difference. He expressed concern about the Senate’s future and identified Texas as one of the ‘very competitive’ races, suggesting it might be challenging for Republicans.
