Jeffrey Epstein: Recent Developments and Connections

3 weeks ago 0

Few figures in recent history have caused as much upheaval as Jeffrey Epstein. He was a convicted sex offender connected to many influential people and institutions worldwide. His death in prison in 2019 did not end the public’s interest in his life and connections.

Interest in Epstein grew after President Trump initially withheld federal records after promising their release. These records eventually emerged in late 2025 and early 2026. Congress and the Justice Department released millions of pages of documents related to Epstein, helping to answer some questions, though many mysteries persist.

The New York Times has focused on Epstein’s finances, his enablers, and possible co-conspirators since his 2019 arrest on federal sex-trafficking charges. Here’s what we have learned from ongoing investigations.

Recent Revelations

The latest revelations about Epstein highlight the pressure on an elite Harvard club to sever ties with its billionaire chair, Andrew Farkas, due to his association with Epstein. Andrew Farkas, a Harvard alumnus and donor, had a close friendship with Epstein, as revealed in Justice Department files.

Since 2012, Farkas has chaired the Hasty Pudding Institute of 1770. Although this cultural organization operates separately from Harvard, it is housed in a building named after Farkas’s late father. Some students, faculty, and alumni now circulate petitions urging the institute and the university to cut ties with Farkas and rename the building.
