Sony Pictures Television Studios has terminated Jim Thornton, the announcer for “Wheel of Fortune.” This decision follows an investigation into allegations against him. According to a Sony spokesperson, the termination is effective immediately.

American Airlines confirmed to TMZ that law enforcement addressed concerns reported by a passenger on Flight 1276 when it arrived at Los Angeles International Airport. Though he was questioned, Thornton was neither arrested nor charged with any crime.

Thornton’s attorney also commented on the situation, stating that Thornton did not engage in illegal behavior. Law enforcement questioned him briefly and let him go without any further action.

When questioned about the complaint made by a fellow passenger on the flight, law enforcement spoke to him for five minutes or less, immediately determined that no wrongdoing had occurred, and told my client he was free to go, Thornton’s lawyer told TMZ.

This recent development marks a change for “Wheel of Fortune,” which was led by Pat Sajak and now features Ryan Seacrest as the host. The show is also known for its co-host, Vanna White.
