Kai Trump’s Setback: Wrist Surgery and Road to Recovery

1 hour ago 0

Kai Trump, a freshman at the University of Miami, has encountered an unexpected challenge during her first year on the university’s women’s golf team. She recently underwent successful wrist surgery following an injury she sustained in September.

Trump, granddaughter of former President Donald Trump, shared the news on Instagram with a photo from her hospital bed, showing her arm in a sling and cast. The procedure took place at the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) in New York.

The 19-year-old golfer emphasized the importance of her decision, stating, “While I had hoped to avoid surgery, after talks with my family, coaches, and athletic training staff, I know I made the best decision for my long-term health and my future in the game I love.” She expressed her determination to face this new challenge with patience.

Trump had previously injured her wrist during her first college tournament. Earlier this year, she had surgery on her left wrist to address issues with her ECU tendon and triangular fibrocartilage complex.

In recent months, Trump participated in a three-round tournament in Muncie, Indiana, which included a day of two rounds. Although she has not provided a specific timeline for her recovery, Trump expressed gratitude to Dr. Michelle G. Carlson, her family, and her team for their support during this time.

“Recovery will take time, but I’m incredibly fortunate to be surrounded by amazing people who continue to lift me up, encourage me, and remind me that every challenge is an opportunity to grow,” Trump wrote.

Trump looks forward to returning to golf, sharing, “For now, it’s all about healing and trusting the process. I can’t wait to be back with my team, doing what I love. I’ll be back before you know it, stronger and more grateful than ever! Go Canes!”
