Louisiana’s Ambitious Education Goal Amid Financial Aid Challenges

2 weeks ago 0

By 2030, Louisiana aims for 60% of working-age adults to obtain a degree or valuable credential. This target highlights the importance of higher education in the state and across the U.S.

However, financial burdens make achieving this goal challenging. Federal financial aid reductions are impacting students severely. Grad PLUS loans have been discontinued. There are new limits on graduate borrowing, affecting fields in demand such as nursing and social work.

Additionally, the House’s proposed funding bill for the next fiscal year threatens subsidized federal student loans. These loans help students save significant interest costs over time.
