Magnus Ferrell, aged 22, infuses the holiday season with an R&B flair by covering “Happy Holiday / The Holiday Season” for Starbucks’ Holiday Blend EP. This seven-song collection represents Starbucks’ first global holiday album release in ten years.
Ferrell reveals that his musical style is deeply influenced by R&B and soul. When interpreting the classic medley originally popularized by Andy Williams in the 1960s, he aimed to incorporate his unique sound. “We tried to add a groove and make it sound like me, while preserving its classic essence,” he explains.
As the son of actors Will Ferrell and Viveca Paulin, Magnus seizes the chance to participate in the album, given his love for the holiday season. The Ferrell family, including brothers Mattias and Axel, enjoys festive traditions such as decorating the tree and playing holiday songs on the piano, a hobby Magnus has pursued since childhood.
Fascinatingly, despite Will Ferrell’s fame in the holiday film Elf, this movie is not a family favorite due to scenes unsettling to Magnus as a child. Instead, they prefer films like A Christmas Story and Home Alone.
Magnus Ferrell saw a breakthrough with his single “Asleep Talking,” earning recognition with a Best New Artist nomination at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards. His year concluded on a high as he joined the Jonas Brothers’ tour, savoring support from his father during this milestone.
The Holiday Blend EP features contributions from artists such as Coco Jones, JYT, TRÍADA, Brandi Carlile, the Womack Sisters, and Leon Thomas. Ferrell is thrilled to collaborate with musicians he admires, sharing that the opportunity feels extraordinary. The holiday album will enhance Starbucks’ in-store ambiance, and Magnus’s go-to beverage order? A flat white.
