Meghan Markle’s Potential Return to Acting and Its Implications

3 hours ago 0

Meghan Markle has spent years attempting to redefine herself after leaving royal life. Her latest move could see her revisiting an earlier career path. Reports indicate she may join the cast of Season 3 of “The Gentlemen,” a project by Guy Ritchie. People magazine suggests ongoing negotiations, although no final deal has been reached.

According to Kinsey Schofield, host of “Kinsey Schofield Unfiltered,” if Meghan returns to acting, it would raise questions about the various roles she adopted post-royalty. These roles have included podcaster, producer, lifestyle entrepreneur, philanthropist, and media mogul.

Schofield pointed out the significance of Meghan choosing acting as a potentially more viable professional identity than those she attempted after leaving royal life. Talks about her involvement in “The Gentlemen” are still in the initial stages, as reported by Deadline. Filming takes place in the U.K., starring actors Theo James, Kaya Scodelario, and Giancarlo Esposito.

Her role would represent a more substantial return to the acting world compared to her cameo in “Close Personal Friends” in 2025. This involvement could reignite professional challenges she has faced since stepping away from the camera.

Doug Eldridge, founder of Achilles PR, explained that Meghan has encountered a persistent struggle in finding an identity that endures beyond temporary professional roles. This struggle includes experimenting with various career directions.

Despite the couple’s plans for an extended stay in the U.K. this autumn, they will maintain their business operations based in the U.S. and keep their California home. Reports suggest her potential acting role influenced their decision to return to Britain.

Schofield expressed skepticism regarding Meghan’s potential Hollywood comeback. Situated in California with significant ties in the entertainment industry, Meghan has a solid platform for pursuing acting if she chooses. However, her success would depend on proving that she can truly embody a character rather than becoming the focal point in scenes.

Despite expressing reluctance to return to acting, Meghan’s ventures following her royal exit have yielded mixed results, including her Spotify partnership and the scrapping of her Netflix animated series “Pearl.”

Dan Wakeford, founder of Celebrity Intelligence, noted that returning to acting could be a strategic move for Meghan. He emphasized the importance of selecting the right script to transform public perception, citing Demi Moore’s success with ‘The Substance.’ A return to acting might allow Meghan to shift away from the princess narrative and back to her roots.

Meghan’s initial foray into Hollywood included small roles on shows such as “Fringe” and “The League,” followed by a stint as a suitcase model on “Deal or No Deal.” Her breakout role came with “Suits,” where she portrayed Rachel Zane until her royal engagement.

Kinsey Schofield has highlighted the contradiction in Meghan’s journey, where she initially portrayed acting as a pursuit she had moved beyond, only to find her original career choice may have been more effective. Returning to acting could leverage Meghan’s high profile and global curiosity, enticing audiences. The real challenge lies in sustaining this interest beyond initial intrigue, leading to a viable career.
