Miami Hurricanes Bolster Future with Key Commitments

The Miami Hurricanes continue to build on their recent success following their appearance in the national championship game. The team has made strategic moves by acquiring transfer quarterback Darian Mensah and wide receiver Cooper Barkate from ACC rival Duke, boosting their roster for the upcoming season.

On Friday, the Hurricanes celebrated another significant achievement. Five-star cornerback A’mir Sears, ranked as the No. 2 player in Florida and No. 11 overall in the nation according to 247Sports composite rankings, committed to Miami. Sears chose Miami as they were the first team to offer him a scholarship.

Sears’ commitment gives the Hurricanes five five-star commits, placing them just behind Texas A&M, which holds the highest number in the 2027 cycle. Miami currently stands alongside Texas A&M and Notre Dame as the only teams with four or more five-star pledges.

With Sears, Miami has moved ahead of Notre Dame for the No. 2 recruiting class nationwide, trailing only Texas A&M. Sears joins other five-star recruits, including cornerback Donte Wright, quarterback Israel Abrams, wide receiver Nick Lennear, and edge-rusher Jaiden Bryant, forming a promising class.

During Sears’ official visit to Coral Gables in March, he shared his positive experience.

Man, it was a vibe. Played 3-on-3 basketball and ran the court for about nine straight games with Nick Lennear. I think playing for The U just excites me to put on for the crib.
