Mountain Lion Prompts San Dimas Street Closure

A mountain lion relaxing on a sidewalk under a tree caused a street to be shut down in San Dimas as wildlife officials worked to capture the animal. This incident occurred on Friday afternoon.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s San Dimas Station reported on Instagram after 8 a.m. that a mountain lion was spotted on Foothill Boulevard, between San Dimas Avenue and San Dimas Canyon Road. Residents were advised to avoid the area and ensure pets and outdoor food were secured to not attract the lion.

The department requested that runners, pedestrians, and residents stay alert. Cort Klopping, a public information officer with the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, confirmed that the department received reports and was responding to the situation.
