Michael Robinson, an NFL analyst, apologized to Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts. Robinson had drawn criticism for questioning Hurts’ injury and dedication to the team during a challenging period for the Eagles.
Robinson posted his apology on X, previously known as Twitter, admitting his fault. “My official apology to @JalenHurts @Eagles and the entire fanbase. My comments were wrong. No excuse,” he stated.
Further, Robinson issued a detailed apology. “I want to sincerely apologize to Jalen Hurts, his family, the Philadelphia Eagles organization, and fan base for my comments last Thursday. They were unfounded and I never should’ve speculated on a health issue of a player nor his commitment to his team,” Robinson explained.
The apology came after Robinson’s remarks on NFL Network’s “NFL GameDay Kickoff.” He implied that Hurts might exploit his health issues to dodge criticism amid the Eagles’ tough season start. His comments faced backlash since the quarterback’s absence was due to a medical problem, not a regular football injury.
The Eagles had announced that Hurts would miss their Week 6 game against the Carolina Panthers after doctors discovered a blood clot in his calf. On Monday, both the team and his agent confirmed a more serious condition involving deep vein thrombosis and blood clots in both lungs. They assured that Hurts was medically stable and expected to fully recover.
This new information cast Robinson’s earlier remarks in a different perspective. Speculating about a player’s health without confirmed facts can have serious repercussions, especially when it questions their professionalism and commitment.
