Nicole ‘Snooki’ Polizzi recently provided her fans with an update on her health journey, six months after sharing her diagnosis of cervical cancer. In a heartfelt Instagram video, the 38-year-old reality star announced she underwent a hysterectomy following her diagnosis.

Polizzi’s Candid Revelation

The Instagram video began with footage of Polizzi at the hospital preparing for surgery. She shared her experiences through a voice-over before speaking directly to viewers post-procedure. Polizzi admitted, “I told you guys in general I’m not good with pain, and I’ve really been trying to be tough, but it’s not great.” Her surgery included the removal of her uterus, cervix, fallopian tubes, and parts of her vagina. Thankfully, her ovaries were preserved to prevent early menopause.

Emotional and Physical Challenges

During the video, Polizzi was emotional as she shared her feelings, acknowledging it had been a challenging time. She detailed the pre-surgery steps, expressing her anxiety as she was prepped with iodine and scrubbed with antiseptic wipes. Despite her nerves, she tried to maintain a positive outlook, but the reality of the surgery overwhelmed her.

“I was starting to get nervous and anxious, getting checked in and stuff,” Polizzi recounted. “My heart’s starting to race, I’m getting anxiety, and I’m getting the shakes. And then right when I go in, it’s just like, ‘Oh my god, like it hit me.’”

Support and Recovery

The reality star explained the great support she received from the medical team, which helped ease her fears. In a lighter moment, she humorously aimed to beat the record for staying conscious when given anesthesia, managing to count to ten.

In addition to the hysterectomy, doctors also treated her for diastasis recti, a condition she developed after having three children, which caused her abdominal muscles to separate.

Sharing to Support Others

Polizzi explained her decision to share her health journey. She expressed a desire to provide guidance and support for women facing similar challenges, encouraging open discussion about these personal battles. “It’s a scary thing and a lot of us women deal with it, and no one really talks about it. So I’m here to give that platform for all of us ladies,” she said.

Concluding her message, Polizzi emphasized the importance of routine screenings and thanked her followers for their support. She also encouraged them to stay diligent with their Pap smears and highlighted the relief of no longer facing monthly periods or the need for birth control. Polizzi ended optimistically, hoping for a cancer-free future.

Nicole Polizzi’s openness about her health highlights the importance of awareness and community support for those facing similar health battles.
