Odor on Hawaii Flight Leads to Crew Illness

An incident on a flight to Hawaii led to an emergency response as multiple crew members fell ill. Seven flight attendants from Hawaiian Airlines started experiencing nausea and headaches. This occurred after they detected an unknown odor in the cabin.

The situation took place on September 24 on Alaska Airlines Flight 803, managed by Hawaiian Airlines, flying from Los Angeles to Honolulu. The airline confirmed that the Airbus A330, with 252 passengers and nine crew members, landed safely at Daniel K. Inouye International Airport in Honolulu.

Once the plane landed, medical staff evaluated and released the affected crew members. Alaska Airlines noted that no passengers required medical attention. The airline emphasized, “Safety is our priority, and we thank the medical professionals for their response.”

Various city and state agencies were ready at the airport for the flight’s arrival at approximately 12:30 p.m., as reported by Hawaii News Now. Paramedics evaluated the seven flight attendants who declined further transport to an emergency room.

The exact cause of the odor remains unidentified. Post-incident, the aircraft underwent inspection before returning to service, as per Hawaii News Now.

Travelers had hotel accommodations in Dublin and continued to Philadelphia on later flights.
