Oregon Ducks Quarterback Dante Moore Suffers Concussion During Game Against USC

Oregon Ducks quarterback Dante Moore exited Saturday’s game against the USC Trojans after a severe hit by linebacker Desman Stephens II. The incident occurred early in the second quarter when Moore attempted a slide to avoid a tackle. Stephens inflicted a forceful blow to Moore’s head, resulting in his ejection for targeting. Additionally, Stephens received a one-game suspension due to what officials described as “unacceptable” conduct following the hit.

Following the impact, Moore exhibited the fencing response, an involuntary reaction signaling a significant head injury. Medical evaluations confirmed a concussion, although MRI and CT scans showed no further damage.

On Monday, Moore released his first public statement since the injury: “To my team, the community, and to the World, thank you. These past 2 days have been difficult, but through all of your prayers, I have made progress. There’s times I question myself and the Lord and say Why now? but I quickly remember Jeremiah 29:11: ‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the LORD, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future’. In Moore’s absence, backup quarterback Dylan Raiola stepped in and passed for 289 yards with two touchdowns, steering the Ducks to a 41-27 win.

Oregon will face the UCLA Bruins on Saturday, October 10, in their next game.
