Patriots Fall Short in Season Opener Against Seahawks

Maye completed 23 of 33 passes for 178 yards during the game. He threw one touchdown pass to rookie teammate Eli Raridon but was intercepted three times. Seattle’s defense effectively contained the Patriots’ efforts throughout the game.

The Patriots had a significant opportunity for a win, especially since the Seahawks lost their key player, Sam Darnold, early in the match. Darnold, who has won the Super Bowl, had to exit with a leg injury in the first quarter. His return remains uncertain, though initial reports suggest the injury may not be severe. Backup quarterback Drew Lock stepped in for the Seahawks following Darnold’s departure.

As the season progresses, the Patriots need to regroup and address the factors that led to the opening defeat. Their next encounter is with the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, September 20. This AFC matchup will pit Maye against seasoned quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
