Pentagon Chooses Poland for Missile Maintenance Center

The Pentagon has selected Poland as the site for a new maintenance center for Lockheed Martin’s Patriot interceptor missiles. This facility will provide maintenance, repair, and overhaul for PAC-3 missiles, aiming to boost the operational readiness of allied air and missile defense forces.

Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment Michael P. Duffey stated that this move supports the goal of delivering for warfighters globally, which is crucial for deterring adversaries and strengthening collective defense. He affirmed that the establishment of this facility on NATO’s Eastern Front is a demonstration of commitment to partnership and deterrence.

The decision follows the depletion of missile interceptor stocks amid conflicts like the Russia-Ukraine war and the U.S.-Israel conflict with Iran, which have caused delays in supply chains. According to U.S. Ambassador to Poland, Tom Rose, Poland’s selection was due to its strong proposal, eagerness to expand defense capabilities, and willingness to invest in its defense infrastructure. The facility is expected to enhance maintenance capacity and strengthen trusted supply chains.
