On the scene at the 1300 block of South Wabash Avenue, police arrived shortly after 5 p.m. They discovered a 33-year-old man inside the building. He was suffering from a gunshot wound to the head.
The victim was transported in critical condition to Northwestern Memorial Hospital. He had injuries from the gunshot wound, a neck laceration, and suffered smoke inhalation.
