Porsha Williams Opens Up About Her Health Journey

Porsha Williams, a renowned reality TV star, has been candid about her personal life for years. From fertility challenges to navigating life post-divorce, she has always shared her experiences openly. Recently, Williams discussed a private health issue on “CBS Mornings” with co-anchor Gayle King.

Porsha Williams’ Health Revelation

Williams revealed she had an emergency partial hysterectomy earlier this year. The procedure was due to the discovery of 21 uterine fibroids, with one fibroid as large as a cantaloupe. This revelation came unexpectedly, as Williams explained, “It all happened so fast. It really didn’t hit me until I woke up in the hospital bed.”

Known for her appearances on “Traitors” and “Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip,” Williams has dealt with fibroids since her late 20s. Initially, she had undergone uterine fibroid embolization to shrink them, believing they were resolved.

A Long-Standing Health Issue

Williams initially faced fibroids when trying to conceive and encountered fertility issues. She recounted her discovery, “I went to the doctor and I was pregnant, and… she said, there’s a fibroid there.” During her pregnancy, a fibroid grew larger than her baby, leading to a miscarriage. Thankfully, in 2019, she welcomed her daughter Pilar, her “rainbow baby.”

Recently, during a visit to a fertility clinic with a friend, Williams sought an exam. To her dismay, doctors detected more fibroids. A fertility specialist, “in shock” at their number, referred her for an MRI, which led to her May 2026 surgery.

Advocating for Women’s Health

Williams now shares her story to inspire women to advocate for their health. She emphasized, “We have to stop diagnosing ourselves. There are so many different things when it comes to a woman that you need to get checked.” Williams urges women to seek medical advice and not hesitate to request fibroid checks when something feels amiss.
