Reflections on 22 Years at Fox News

Twenty-two years ago marked a pivotal shift in my career. Initially, I worked at The Wall Street Journal and CNBC. My decision to join Fox News transformed my life profoundly. I am thankful for following my instinct that led me here.

Jeff Hark, handling scheduling, welcomed me on my first day. He showed genuine interest in my family life, knowing I had three young children. He reassured me that Fox valued young professionals balancing family pressures. Initially defensive, I pledged not to trouble him with leave requests. However, his sincerity encouraged me to commit more, understanding the company had my support.

Fox offered a platform for personal and professional growth. The atmosphere was dynamic, experiencing rapid expansion. Every chance I embraced unveiled new opportunities. In my first year, I sought inclusion in the election team for the 2004 presidential race. I eagerly volunteered to cover events, driven by the desire to participate actively.

I soon reported from the Democratic convention floor alongside veteran correspondents Carl Cameron and Major Garrett. The experience was both exhilarating and daunting. This marked the start of my two-decade journey covering elections at Fox News.

The role allowed global travel, covering presidents and royalty. A particularly rewarding experience was walking with war veterans across Normandy’s beaches, sharing narratives from Berlin to Afghanistan. Fox fostered a profound respect for veterans, an emphasis unparalleled elsewhere.

I am immensely grateful to my Fox colleagues. Lachlan, Suzanne, Jay, and many others feel like family. Our shared love for the nation drives us to uphold high standards, holding governing bodies accountable. We continually wish for the country’s prosperity.
