The search for four inmates who escaped from a correctional center in central Alabama is ongoing. Authorities are working around the clock to locate the individuals.
The inmates made their escape from the Perry County Correctional PREP Center in Uniontown, Alabama. According to the Perry County Sheriff’s Office, the alert about the escape was issued at approximately 1 a.m. on Saturday.
The sheriff’s office identified the escapees as Marquavious Billingsley, Jaden Christopher Maxwell, Johnny Dave Harris Bush Jr., and Kevin Gunn. Detailed information about how they escaped has not been released.
The inmates are originally from Dallas County, Alabama, and were being held at the PREP center as part of an agreement with the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department. The facility, known as the Parole and Probation Reentry Education and Employment Program Center, focuses on reentry education.
These individuals were detained on serious charges, including murder, first-degree robbery, breaking and entering vehicles, first-degree escape, first-degree assault, and promoting prison contraband.
Authorities have urged anyone with information about the escapees to contact 911 immediately. Sheriff’s officials advise the public not to confront or try to apprehend the men.
“The safety of Perry County residents is the top priority,” stated Perry County Sheriff Roy Fikes. He assured that deputies and other agencies are “actively engaged in efforts to locate and apprehend the escapees,” and an investigation is ongoing.
