Shedeur Sanders, now playing as the quarterback for the Cleveland Browns, made a significant financial mark in the 2025 NFL season. Although he missed out on a first-round draft pick and its associated high monetary rewards, Sanders found success through group licensing income.
According to Front Office Sports, the NFL Players’ Association endorsement deals allowed Sanders to earn an impressive $17.7 million in the 2025 season. This income came from sales of jerseys, trading cards, and other fan collectibles, setting a new record.
In contrast, Tom Brady earned $9.5 million in similar income during the 2021-22 season. Sanders’ contract with the Browns offers him a base of just over $1 million annually, originating from a four-year, $4.647 million rookie deal. His draft experience was notable, as he was not chosen until Day 3, having seen others taken ahead of him, such as Oregon’s Dillon Gabriel and Alabama’s Jalen Milroe.
Despite these initial setbacks, Sanders garnered a strong fan base, translating to substantial merchandise sales and further endorsement possibilities. His total earnings for his rookie year approached, or even exceeded, $20 million.
Starting his NFL career with much anticipation, Sanders had to wait for his opportunity. Veteran quarterback Joe Flacco initially led the Browns for former head coach Kevin Stefanski. Sanders debuted in Week 12 against the Las Vegas Raiders, leading the team to a 24-10 victory with a performance that included 209 passing yards, a touchdown, and an interception.
Kevin Stefanski designated Sanders as the starting quarterback for the remaining games as Cleveland was out of playoff contention. Sanders completed the season with 1,400 passing yards, seven touchdowns, and ten interceptions over seven starts, achieving a 3-4 record.
Heading into 2026, Sanders faces continued competition for the starting position. Deshaun Watson has returned to health, participating in first-team practices under new head coach Todd Monken, who joined the Browns from the Baltimore Ravens.
