Susan Collins’ Office Vandalized Amidst Senate Race with Troy Jackson

Republican Senator Susan Collins stated she wouldn’t be “intimidated” after her constituent office in Biddeford, Maine, was vandalized on Monday. Her Democratic challenger, Troy Jackson, condemned the “vandalism and intimidation” as “wrong.” The words “Trump Whore” were spray-painted on the entry doors of her office. The senator’s office confirmed this incident, and a photo of the vandalism was shared on social media by Maine state Sen. Matt Harrington, the chamber’s assistant Republican leader. Biddeford police have launched an investigation into the incident.

Katie Brown, Collins’ Chief of Staff, declared in a statement to Fox News Digital, “Vandalism is unacceptable. Senator Collins and her staff will not be intimidated. Our Biddeford constituent service office remains open, and we will continue serving the people of Maine.” Collins is seeking re-election for a sixth term in the Senate, representing blue-leaning Maine, and is in a competitive race with Troy Jackson, former Maine Senate president. This Senate race is crucial for Democrats attempting to regain Senate control this election season.

Jackson told Fox News Digital, “There’s no place for this in Maine. Vandalism and intimidation are wrong, full stop. Senator Collins and her staff should be able to do their jobs without anyone defacing their office, and I condemn whoever did this.” Another former Maine state Representative, Austin Theriault, the 2024 Republican congressional nominee, condemned the actions unreservedly, noting that political alignment shouldn’t affect reactions to such behaviors.

Kristina Parker, Maine GOP Communications Director, described the vandalism as “another example of the radical left’s aggression and inability to have civil discourse.” She emphasized the need for swift prosecution, stressing that the political environment shouldn’t accept such behavior. Notably, Collins’ Biddeford office is near the site where a fatal shooting by ICE agents occurred in July, which had previously sparked protests against her support for ICE funding.

Senator Collins, known for occasionally disagreeing with former President Donald Trump, has received attention from both parties during the campaign. She was recognized for casting her 10,000th consecutive Senate vote but also faced criticism from both sides. She has opposed Trump’s tariff policies and voted against Attorney General Todd Blanche’s confirmation. Meanwhile, Democrats have criticized her for her 2018 vote confirming Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, who later played a key role in overturning Roe v. Wade.
