Theo Stamos, a seasoned prosecutor from Virginia, is set to become the acting U.S. attorney for an office embroiled in controversy related to investigations endorsed by President Donald Trump.
Stamos has an extensive background, having been elected as commonwealth’s attorney for Arlington County and Falls Church on two occasions. She also served as a top adviser to Republican Attorney General Jason S. Miyares.
On Wednesday, the Justice Department appointed Stamos to lead a significant U.S. attorney’s office in Virginia. The office has faced considerable staff turnover in light of President Trump’s assertive actions targeting his critics.
