Known on TikTok as @jordanleecorman, Lee shares his knack for thrift shopping and discovering band merchandise. In a TikTok video posted on August 18, Lee showcased a collection of band tees he found thrifting, featuring artists like Gwen Stefani, Interpol, and a John Cena WWE shirt. This prompts curiosity as to who donated these items.

Lee’s unique talent lies in identifying patterns within these donations, allowing him to piece together stories from collections of band tees. For dedicated collectors, such finds offer more than mere souvenirs; they provide insight into the past, highlighting clues that suggest they came from the same person’s collection. Lee’s interest in collections stems from his substantial experience in the music industry. Since he was 17, he has worked mostly within the emo and alternative metal genres, fostering a strong instinct for recognizing musical connections in the merchandise he discovers.

“When you’ve spent a lot of time in a particular community—in my case, music—you naturally develop a stronger instinct for recognizing things connected to it,” Lee shared.

Spotting patterns, like eight shirts featuring bands from similar genres and periods, is a key technique Lee employs. Even the wear and tear on shirts can reveal their shared origins, transforming an apparent jumble into a compelling narrative of someone’s music history.

Lee evaluates these aspects alongside tag and stitching details, such as popular brands like Bay Island, Alstyle, and American Apparel.

Yet, Lee emphasizes that worth can also stem from personal attachment—memories, design significance, or the importance of an artist during specific life moments often elevate a shirt’s value beyond price.

Lee’s thrift excursions are marked by noteworthy discoveries, one of which occurred at a Washington State Goodwill. A rack laden with pop-punk tees from The Wonder Years, Knuckle Puck, and Blink-182 caught his eye. Despite this haul, Lee took home only a Knuckle Puck and Fireworks shirt.

“Just because you find them all doesn’t mean you have to buy them all!” Lee remarked.

Certain artists, like Panic! At The Disco and “Weird Al” Yankovic, hold special significance for Lee, owing to personal history. Despite leaving most finds behind, he continues to seek one item: a vintage striped hoodie from Panic! At The Disco for his girlfriend.
