Thrilling Tulsa vs. Navy Matchup Delivers Unforgettable Plays

6 minutes ago 0

Saturday’s college football lineup showcased two standout SEC matchups, known as some of the best rivalries in the sport. However, remarkable plays emerged elsewhere, including in the game between Tulsa and Navy.

Tulsa faced Navy on Saturday and executed an unpredictable touchdown that surprised many. The game was tied at seven with just under two minutes to play in the first quarter. Tulsa positioned themselves on the opposing 10-yard line.

Game-Changing Play

Tulsa Golden Hurricane’s David Wells Jr. created a highlight moment in front of the Navy Midshipmen’s defense at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis, Maryland, on October 10, 2026. Tulsa’s quarterback Baylor Hayes delivered a backwards pass to Oran Singleton Jr.

Initially, Singleton appeared trapped about seven yards behind the line of scrimmage. Nevertheless, he escaped a tackle and launched a challenging pass into coverage. David Wells Jr., unrelated to the former baseball pitcher, managed to tip the ball to himself just outside the end zone. He caught it, then dashed back for the touchdown.

Singleton had more to offer; he later scored another touchdown, giving Tulsa a 26-14 lead early in the second half. Wells Jr.’s reaction after catching the tipped pass was a memorable moment in the game.

Navy’s Tough Season

The Midshipmen have faced challenges this season, despite their successful 11-2 record last year, which included winning the Commander-in-Chief’s Trophy against Air Force and Army, as well as the Liberty Bowl.

As Tulsa improved their season to a 3-2 record, following a previous 4-8 campaign, Navy entered Saturday with more losses already than they had in the entire previous season. Nevertheless, this game highlighted Tulsa’s determination and skillful plays.
