Tragic Incident Unfolds in Missouri: Mother and Daughter Killed

2 hours ago 0

A tragic incident occurred in House Springs, Missouri, where a mother and her teenage daughter were fatally shot by a neighbor. According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, 73-year-old Robert Winkelman approached 38-year-old Jessica Lashly’s home on July 25 to discuss an ongoing dispute.

During the exchange, Winkelman drew a firearm, shooting Lashly in the head. Her 17-year-old daughter, Jersey Greer, attempted to come to her mother’s aid but was also shot by Winkelman. Both victims succumbed to their injuries after being hospitalized for several days.

The sheriff’s office reported that a third person was pursued by Winkelman with a gun, but was not shot. When law enforcement arrived at Winkelman’s residence to confront him, he turned the weapon on himself, resulting in his death at a hospital on August 2.

Investigators detailed that Winkelman originally visited Lashly’s home due to noise complaints. A sheriff’s representative described the tragic event as stemming from a neighborly dispute. Reports suggest that Winkelman had long-standing frustrations regarding activities at Lashly’s home.

In response to the event, Justice Greer, the twin sister of the teenage victim, expressed her sorrow, highlighting Jersey’s humor and kindness. “She always knew how to make others laugh and was so supportive,” Justice shared. “In her last moments, Jersey showed immense bravery, trying to save our mom.”

Jessica Lashly was a single mother deeply devoted to her daughters. Despite the tragedy, Justice emphasized the close bond they shared, stating, “It was always just us three, which will make this even harder.”

Abby Feldmann, a lacrosse coach for Justice and her sister Jersey, noted Jersey’s remarkable influence on those around her. “She had a way of changing perspectives, and everyone admired her,” Feldmann remarked.

Authorities confirmed that had Winkelman survived his self-inflicted wound, charges of first-degree murder and armed criminal action would have been filed against him.
