A tragic accident occurred in Belgium when a train collided with a school minibus in Buggenhout. The incident resulted in several casualties, confirmed by the country’s interior minister. However, specific details about the victims’ conditions remain unclear.

According to anonymous sources cited by the French news agency AFP, multiple individuals on the bus lost their lives during the crash. Reuters also reported similar information, yet official confirmation from police or other local authorities has not been issued.

“With great dismay, I learnt of the tragic accident in Buggenhout, where a school bus was struck by a train. My thoughts go out to the victims and their loved ones. I wish the injured much strength,” stated Minister Bernard Quintin on social media platform X.

Images from the accident site depict the minibus on its side near the railway crossing, with its front severely damaged. Emergency teams swiftly responded to assist at the scene located at Vierhuizen railway crossing.

Frederic Sacre, the spokesperson for the Belgian rail network operator, described the collision as having a “dramatic” impact. He explained the event occurred at around 8:08 am, involving a train en route to the next station approximately a kilometer away when it struck the minibus.
